Asma Hilal Lootah
Founder & owner of The Hundred Wellness Centre
In 2000, Asma graduated from the George Washington University with a BA in Business Administration and a minor degree in fine arts. Asma started her professional career at the Emirates Telecommunication Corporation, before launching her own business – The Hundred.
A keen sportswoman, Asma has tried everything from scuba diving to wall climbing. In the summer of 2009, Asma decided to climb Japan’s highest mountain – Mount Fuji. It was in 2002 that her life changed: She discovered Pilates and fell in love with the technique.
After five years of working at Etisalat, Asma decided to take the leap and open her own Pilates studio – becoming the first Emirati woman to own a Pilates concept in the UAE. The Hundred has gone from strength to strength, just as Asma has with the life-changing exercise regime founded by Joseph Pilates. What started as a modest studio in Healthcare City has gone onto to become a complete A-Z wellness center in the heart of Jumeirah.
Asma has won many awards for her work at The Hundred, in 2010 she was awarded by the Crown Prince of Dubai with the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders for the best business in healthcare. In 2012 she won the Emirates Woman of The Year award in the achievers category, she has featured in Ahlan! magazine’s ‘HOT100’ and in March 2013. A year later, in 2011, The Hundred was ranked number 45 in Dubai’s top 100 small and medium enterprises. The Hundred was also selected as the best health and fitness facility in the UAE by the Sports Industry Awards, and more recently the Best Small Project in the GCC states during the 32nd session of the council of ministries of labour hosted in Qatar at the end of 2015.
In 2016 Asma hosted a talk entitled ‘Fitting It All In: Making Time to Eat Well and Stay Fit’ with Joe Wicks (also known as The Body Coach, the founder of the #LeanIn15 videos and 90 Day Shape, Shift and Sustain plan) and David Allen (author of Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity) at the prestigious Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.
Asma was also invited by the wife of the U.S Vice President to give a special speech when Joe and Dr. Jill Biden visited the UAE in March 2016. The Second Lady of the United States visited the School of Research Science in Dubai to celebrate International Women’s Day and invited Asma speak about her experiences as a successful female Emirati entrepreneur at the prestigious event.
